Overview

The Prima installation comes in several steps

  1. Discuss needs and lab size with stakeholders (usually a few meetings)
  2. IT preparatory installation (requisition hardware, gather data, setup infrastructure) (a day of work, with possible waiting time)
  3. Prima server installation (20 minutes to a day, depending on completion of IT prep work)
  4. Prima client installation (10 minutes per client)
  5. Prima ControlPanel Setup Checklist (a guide to setting up lab operations and data in Prima)
  6. Lab personnel training (series of weekly meetings learning to use Prima and refining system settings)
  7. Migrate system to production (about an hour - moves SQL data to production and points clients to the production server)
  8. Fortelinea works very closely the first few weeks to make sure everything goes smoothly, continuing weekly meetings

Lab Preparations

You will be provided by a questionnaire that will help us prepare an initial database for you. This will set dropdowns, workflow rules and some naming conventions to best fit your lab.

You will want to assign one or more persons as Prima "Super Users". These users should be computer savvy, will have admin access and concentrate on knowledge of Prima

There should be at least one person in charge of the project that can spearhead the effort, connecting Fortelinea staff with appropriate people on the lab side

IT Preparations

Fortelinea has built Prima to be very flexible. It can be configured in a seemingly unending number of ways to meet your needs. We are always happy to extend Prima, when appropriate, to meet needs that we have not yet foreseen. We are happy to discuss the process and changes after stakeholders are familiar with the basics.
